Ingredients

  • 1 tsp matcha powder
  • 2 tbsp hot water
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice (or mix of orange + lemon/lime)
  • 1 tsp honey or agave syrup (optional, to taste)
  • ½ cup cold sparkling water (plain or citrus-flavored)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon or orange slices (for garnish)
  • Fresh mint (optional, for garnish)

Procedure

  1. Sift matcha into a small bowl to remove clumps.
  2. Add hot water and whisk until frothy using a bamboo whisk or milk frother. This creates a smooth, lump-free base.
  3. In a separate cup, mix citrus juice and honey/agave syrup. Stir well.
  4. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Pour in the citrus juice mixture.
  5. Slowly top with sparkling water to keep the fizz.
  6. Gently pour the matcha over the back of a spoon to float it over the juice for a layered look.
  7. Garnish with a slice of citrus and a few mint leaves.
